Below are some comments from participants and organizers that were involved in this year's event. If you have a comment to add from an event you attended, please send us an e-mail at info@wintertrails.org.

Good morning from northern Minnesota!   I work on the Chippewa National Forest and we had a fantastic event last weekend at one of our historic winter recreation areas!   We had about 56 people at our National Trails Day event at Shingobee Hills Recreation Area. Lots of people sledding and skiing that day.

Thank you so much for this fantastic event!  This was my first time snowshoeing and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to try out three types of snowshoes.  The weather was perfect and I can’t wait to get out there and try this again.  I’m attaching a photo taken that day.  By this time my dog was pretty exhausted so despite the look on her face, she had a fun day as well.  I was most interested in snowshoeing as an activity I could do with her and this event showed me that it is not only possible, but super enjoyable for both of us.  Thank you again!

I want to send a huge thanks to White Grass (WV)and Isla for all the kindness and hospitality shown to us yesterday on our first visit :-D.  Brandy, Daniel, and I even found out our backsides made it onto the Daily Report photos, and that just totally made our day.   Who says you can't play in the rain!!  It was a blast and well worth the travel and wet conditions :-D.  We have already started working on getting a group of people to come down and experience White Grass on our next visit.

Thank you again!!

White Grass staff,

Our family would like to thank eveyone for a fun day on the trail (and  in the cafe). Zachary our two year old was on skis for the first time,  and the last words he said before falling asleep were "My skis really  did work good"

I've written a bit about our trip and of posted some photos of the  skiers on my webpage.

Cheers,

Brad Striebig

Thanks Chip!

We had a great time there today, despite the rain! In fact I and one of my younger comrades were out most of the afternoon just doing loop after loop of the meadow. We'll definitely be up there again. And a big thanks to Lester (I  believe was his name) for the great lesson!

Take care,

Douglas Ide

I was able to attend the WESTON SKI TRACK, Weston, MA "WTF" on Saturday, 1/10/09.Mother Nature had plans to 'save' all the new snow for SUNDAY (today, we just rec'd 10 inches of fresh snow) but the Weston Ski Track MAKES SNOW and grooms trails. I had a blast! People were pleasant and informative. Good fun for all!

Thanks again to whoever put this together.

We had an excellent event on January 10 at Hatcher Pass. We had about 125 participants; not bad for the cold weather. The next week we got the warm winds (50 degree) which turned the January 17th venue into a swimming pool that had to be cancelled. That event is in the process of being rescheduled some time in early February.
