Liberty Mountain is the only Winter Trails site to host a President's Council Clinic presented by Winter Trails and the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2006. Children and their parents can earn a Certificate of Achievement from the President's Council by visiting five "learing stations" that offer tips on how to dress for winter outdoor activities, nutrition and hydration tips for outdoor activities, winter hiking and camping, exercises that will help you warm up for snow sports activities and a snowshoe demo. Stations are coordinated by snowshoe companies Atlas, Mountain Safety Research, Redfeather and Tubbs, REI, Liberty Mountain, George Mason University and Hemlock Overlook Outdoor Center (VA), U.S. Forest Service and SnowSports Industries America (SIA).
Winter Trails participants also can win products offered by event sponsors including a Gore-Tex jacket, Manzella gloves, a Columbia Sportswear hat and more. Additional sponsors for the event include Nature Valley granola bars and Sorel boots.
