Program: Snow is no reason to stop hiking. Though your favorite footpath may be covered in deep powder, why pine for spring when you can slip on a pair of snowshoes and get out on the trail all winter long? Snowshoeing, after all, is simply hiking in winter. Winter Trails Day is a free snowshoe festival with hundreds of demo snowshoes for adults and children; guided hikes; snow activities; outdoor gear displays and free giveaways. Bring food and water. For tips on what to wear or bring, ask one of our expert staff. Beginning at 2:00 PM, the available quantity of demo equipment will be restricted; so be sure to arrive early enough so that you can demo each and every model.
Directions: From Interstate 70, take the Evergreen Parkway exit to Highway 103 or take the Mt. Evans exit at Idaho Springs, for Route 103 and continue on for 14 miles.
Things to remember: Bring food, drink, and warm clothing. For tips on what to wear or bring, ask one of our expert staff.
